Edit Excel workpapers directly inside Tallyfor instead of viewing them as static files. Changes save in place and sync to your team in real time.
What it does
When you upload an .xlsx file as a Live Spreadsheet, it opens in an editable grid in the document viewer rather than as a flat PDF. You can edit cells, enter formulas, and update values, and teammates viewing the same file see the changes as you make them.
How to turn it on
Live Spreadsheet Editing is a self-enable feature. Open the What's New panel and enable Live Spreadsheet Editing under the Self-Enable section.
Choosing your spreadsheet engine
Once enabled, an admin can pick the engine under Settings → Spreadsheet Editor:
Excel (default) — edits in Tallyfor's built-in spreadsheet editor.
Google Sheets — edits via Google Sheets. This option requires Connected Storage with Google Drive set up first.
Uploading a file as a Live Spreadsheet
In Workpapers, drag in or Upload an
.xlsxfile.When prompted, choose to create it as a Live Spreadsheet.
The file opens in the spreadsheet editor.
Editing
Click any cell to edit its value or enter a formula.
Changes sync in real time to other team members viewing the file.
In Excel mode, edits save automatically; in Google Sheets mode, edits sync back to Drive.
